Pepperl+Fuchs is introducing the FieldConnex fieldbus surge protector, a lightning current and overvoltage arrester that protects Profibus PA or Foundation Fieldbus equipment against high-energy interference impulses It can be used for implementing lightning protection zones in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61312-1 (Protection against lightning electromagnetic impulse - Part 1: General principles)

The fieldbus surge protectors feature a modular design that allows for functional control of the protection modules without interruptions to the signal line.

They are available for explosion-proof and intrinsically safe fieldbus segments, and can be used in signal loops with 4-20mA and Hart interface.
