Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products has developed a new "stick-slip free" linear bearing and wear-pad material for precise and smooth motion control.

Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products has developed a new "stick-slip free" linear bearing and wear-pad material for precise and smooth motion control.

Nylatron 703 XL plate offers an excellent combination of the high strength and stiffness, very low static and dynamic coefficients of friction, high wear resistance and high limiting PV found in standard nylon bearing and wear-pad materials, with the unique benefit of extremely low stick-slip.

Nylatron 703 XL is an ideal material for applications where precise and efficient motion control is required.

Such uses include bearing blocks, wear guides and linear bearings.

For telescoping booms on materials handling equipment, bearing pads made of Nylatron 703 XL allow very accurate and smooth control of linear boom movement and eliminate chatter, which can be a problem especially in overcoming initial inertia on start-up of sliding equipment.

Static and dynamic coefficients of friction, which are almost the same at virtually every point over the useful range of the material, allow this unprecedented degree of control.

Another benefit is the virtual elimination of noise associated with bearing and wear-pad chatter.

The new material can significantly reduce or eliminate the need for lubrication of wear pads.
