Instant quoting for cast urethane prototypes

A Quickparts product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 17, 2001

Instantaneous, customised, binding quotes for rapid prototypes, cast urethane parts and other build-to-order manufacturing projects directly from the users' uploaded 3D CAD models.

Quickparts has released online instantaneous quoting for cast urethane production prototype parts.

This technology, deployed on the Quickparts web site within Quickquote v3.0, is the latest in a series of technology releases that enable web-based instantaneous quoting for build-to-order plastic and metal parts.

The quote includes the manufacture of complex tooling required to cast the prototype parts.

The cast urethane quoting engine analyses and considers the geometric complexity of the uploaded geometry, including internal chambers, undercuts and overhangs, elements which add complexity and therefore cost basis to the tooling and cast urethane parts.

The Quickquote technology is server-side software that provides the registered user of the web site with instantaneous, customised, binding quotes for rapid prototypes, cast urethane parts and other build-to-order manufacturing projects directly from the users' uploaded 3D CAD models.

"We developed the instantaneous quoting technology for cast urethanes because it builds upon the foundation of our mission: to make it easy for our customers to buy custom-designed parts that meet their needs", said Ronald Hollis, President of Quickparts.

"Our customers have shown us that online instant quoting is a great value, and expanding the online offering to include cast urethanes is an obvious value as you move up the product development chain".

"Cast urethane quotes typically take two to four days to quote".

"Our technology shortens that quoting cycle down to a few seconds".

Version 3.0 also adds key customer-requested enhancements, including automatic requote of different manufacturing processes, and web-based RFQ submission for offline quoted processes such as injection mould tooling and metal castings.
