QISoft has installed its market leading process information software, QIS v5, at Douwe Egberts, Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Douwe Egberts is a subsidiary of the Chicago based Sara Lee Corporation, Sara Lee is one of the top three coffee producers in the world.
For the installation, QISoft through its Dutch distributor HAI provided comprehensive training, project management and full data migration backed by a comprehensive support service.
QIS v5 was selected for its ease of use, functionality and ability to interface with third party systems, including laboratory instrumentation.
Douwe Egberts has already seen benefits of reduced paperwork and improved reporting across the plant.
The next stage is to use the QIS analysis tools to understand complex process performance and identify improvement opportunities to reduce downtime, establish optimal operating procedures and improve product quality.
Initially, a trial of QIS was undertaken on the Senseo coffee pad production line but as the benefits of real time information and exception reporting quickly became apparent a decision was taken to swiftly rollout QIS across the whole plant.
The plant operators have been fully trained in the use of QIS and are now using it to support line efficiency decisions and ensure high product quality.
