Buoyant lubricant specialist Q8Oils has recently added another heavy hitter to its sales and marketing team to underpin the company's rapid growth with the arrival of St John Meyers.

Previously with Rix Petroleum, Meyers says he was attracted by the unique positioning and ambitious plans of Q8Oils: "Q8Oils has a unique position within the lubricant and petroleum industry in that the company owns every step of production "from well head to cylinder head", as the company literature succinctly puts it.

This total control not only provides huge benefits in product quality and consistency, it streamlines the supply chain and allows the company to focus more effort on customer service, an area where most of its competitors seem to fall down.

It was a combination of this unique market position and service-oriented philosophy that were the deciding factors in my move.

It made an easy decision out of a tough choice".

Meyers will control the full marketing mix including sponsorship where, following Q8's high-profile support of the Volvo touring car team in the 1990s, Q8Oils is now continuing to prove its technical and product performance credentials in a range of motor sports including rallying, truck racing, off-road events and motocross.

Q8Oils' current major sponsorship is with the Rizla Suzuki factory team in the British Superbike Championship, Europe's premier motorcycle racing championship, in which the top drawer combination of British hero John Reynolds, Japanese ace Yukio Kagayama and the awesome Suzuki GSX-R1000 are proving strong title contenders this season.

With 16 podium finishes already and three rounds of the Championship still to go, Q8Oils, Crescent Racing and Suzuki have high hopes of lifting both the rider and team titles.

Meyers, a football fanatic who still plays regularly in the same Sunday league side as his three sons at Airmyn near Goole, admits that the decision to leave Rix was a tough one.

"I have had an exciting and educational time at Rix Petroleum working in a variety of roles including purchasing, retail development, commercial sales and marketing plus the development of Rix's Scottish distributor operation and even the occasional tanker driving duties.

I have known most of the Q8 sales team for many years and I saw this role within the company's ambitious plans as a great challenge and an opportunity to develop my business understanding within the lubricant sector".
