A long-life low-dilution metalworking fluid is specifically developed for the machining of cast iron components.

Available from QSCD, Q-cut Ultra CI is a long-life low-dilution metalworking fluid specifically developed for the machining of cast iron components Q-cut Ultra CI is a semisynthetic low-oil-content chlorine-free metalworking fluid used in the manufacture of compacted graphite iron (CGI), ductile and traditional grey cast iron components

Q-cut Ultra CI provides consistent cooling at the tool/material interface, heat dissipation minimises tool failure through the risk of thermal shock at the cutting edge.

The cooling effect of Q-cut Ultra CI also minimises component thermal growth therefore reducing the risk of "out of size" components and the common problem of build up of cast iron dust is minimised with the "washing" effect of Q-cut Ultra CI, particles are held in suspension and carried away from the machining area to be filtered out.

As the pace for continual cost down increases QSCD has recognised the need to minimise the effect the metalworking fluid has on the production process, with this in mind the focus was to develop a low in use product that would last as long as possible with good management controls.

After considerable R and D and on site testing Q-cut Ultra CI has proven to be a product that positively impacts on the bottom line.

With an anticorrosion pass at 1.5% fluid concentration for both IP125 and IP287 tests Q-cut Ultra CI offers the potential to radically minimise the volume of metalworking fluid consumed.

One customer who wanted to see how far he could push the boundaries of the product is actually machining components at a concentration of 0.5% with a controlled water source.

With the UK Health and Safety Executive having concerns over the health risks associated with bacterial activity in metalworking fluids Q-cut Ultra CI has proven to afford considerable resistance to bacterial growth with systems typically being maintained at low levels of bacterial activity.

Free of charge samples are available for machining trials to satisfy manufacturers of the benefits of Q-cut Ultra CI.
