In response to repeated customer requests, Iced*CAD now supports manufacturing data based on Autodesk Inventor.

In response to repeated customer requests, Iced*CAD now supports manufacturing data based on Autodesk Inventor.

Iced*CAD delivers immediate "on-the-fly" creation of 3D assemblies directly from a bill of materials, using predrawn 3D parts and driven by defined rules.

Iced*CAD, a key component in product lifecycle management (PLM) implementations, removes the bottlenecks that prevent design and manufacturing information being delivered in a timely fashion to customers as well as downstream manufacturing operations.

"Innovative companies today look beyond cutting costs", stated Kais Al-Timimi, Managing Director, Datamation, a research and analyst company for the PLM market.

"With every company using what have now become commodity tools for their design processes, the scope for further cost reductions have diminished significantly.

As a result, companies are now looking for technologies that allow them to do more, with less, through optimising processes throughout the enterprise.

In other words, using technology to generate more return on investment, rather than simply focusing on marginal reduction in costs in one area.

Iced*CAD is such tool as this".

Iced*CAD works to its fullest advantage with manufacturers that have a set of pre-defined components with several variations that customers can select.

The technology assists the creation of 3D assemblies without requiring the designer or engineer to recreate the data for each order - a process that can often take weeks for each customer order.

Iced*CAD immediately and dynamically creates the specific 3D assembly, 2D cross-sections, pricing and related manufacturing information which is then delivered to the customer, shop floor or interested party via web browser.

The release of Iced*CAD for Autodesk Inventor is part of the company's strategy of supporting all major MCAD platforms.

It currently supports Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks.
