Only a few weeks remain for successful businesses to apply for a Queen's Award for Enterprise 2002 - the UK's highest accolade for outstanding business achievement.

The deadline for entries is midnight on 31 October 2001.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are widely regarded as the "Oscars" of the business world.

Any UK-based business unit in any sector can enter, as long as it employs at least two people and can demonstrate sustained growth.

There is no limit to the number of Awards that can be made each year, though the standard required to win is very high.

Awards are made in three categories - International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development - covering everything from product and service successes, to marketing and managerial initiatives.

Winners are announced annually on The Queen's Birthday, 21 April.

Successful entrants stand to benefit from extensive publicity and promotional use of The Queen's Awards Emblem.

They are also invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Businesses interested in entering the Awards should visit www.queensawards.org.uk or call 0870 5 13 44 86 for an application form.
