Time is running out for companies to apply for next year's Queen's Awards for Enterprise - the UK's most prestigious business accolade.

The deadline for applications is midnight on 31st October 2005.

Queen's Awards are available for outstanding achievement by companies in three categories - International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development.

The awards are open to UK-based companies of all sizes, from two-person partnerships up to major multinationals.

Unlike other award schemes, there is no set number of winners each year - each application is judged on its individual merits against a quality standard.

Steve Brice, Secretary of The Queen's Awards Office comments: "We are keen to attract applications from any eligible business which is a high achiever in its field".

"I urge interested parties not to leave their application too late - over 50% of past winners cite 'lack of time' as a reason for not applying in previous years".

Brice continues: "There is an added incentive to apply early, since applications submitted before 31st September can be checked by The Queen's Awards Office, and if necessary, further information requested to enhance the application." The main benefits of winning a Queen's Award are boosts to staff morale, publicity and increased recognition.

96% of last year's winners felt their Queen's Award had brought added commercial value to their company.
