QuickSilver Controls has released its most feature-rich single-axis controller/driver yet.

QuickSilver Controls has released its most feature-rich single-axis controller/driver yet.

The SilverDust IGB, part of the SilverLode controller family, is designed to control QuickSilver's high torque NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 frame I-Grade motor/encoders and includes breakouts for power, communications and I/O.

Closed loop control (servo) of a step motor provides all the accuracy of a traditional servomotor but with superior torque for applications up to a few thousand revolutions per minute and at a lower cost.

The IGB only uses a single cable for both motor and encoder signals.

At 50ohm, the cable has minimal voltage drop and excellent noise rejection.

This combined with the IGB's new ability to upload encoder and motor information from the motor's onboard, nonvolatile memory makes initialisation as simple as plugging in the motor and pressing a button.
