Servo controller opens the loop

A Quicksilver Controls product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 30, 2005

QuickSilver Controls has added open loop operation to its servo controller, the SilverDust.

QuickSilver Controls has added open loop operation to its SilverDust servo controller.

For years QuickSilver has produced servo controllers for microstep motors and now it has optimised the SilverDust to also operate a step motor in the traditional open loop configuration.

Open loop operation is ideal for slower applications that do not require encoder feedback.

SilverDust provides a powerful controller without the expense of an encoder and sophisticated cable - producing savings of about $100 (list).

To make putting together open loop systems easier, QCI now sells its step motors and cabling for open loop operation.
