A Quicksilver Controls product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 1, 2006

Multichannel architecture allows for a network of field devices using CAN to work simultaneously with a supervisory network using RS232, RS485 or Ethernet.

QuickSilver Controls is responding to industry demands for low cost network support with its newest single axis controller/driver.

The SilverDust IG8 communication options include RS232, RS485, CAN and Ethernet.

This multichannel architecture allows for a network of field devices using CAN to work simultaneously with a supervisory network using RS232, RS485 or Ethernet.

The SilverDust IG8, part of the SilverLode controller family, is designed to servo, QuickSilver's high torque NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 frame I-Grade step motor/encoders and includes breakouts for power, communications and I/O.

Closed loop control (servo) of a stepmotor, provides all the accuracy of a traditional servomotor at a lower cost and with superior torque for applications up to 2000rev/min (depending on model).

The IG8 only uses a single cable for both motor and encoder signals.

At 15m, the cable has minimal voltage drop and excellent noise rejection.
