Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
In order to gather material for this analysis, we are inviting contributions from across the electrical installation industry.
Your views on the current and future importance of e-commerce in the electrical installation equipment industry are very important for the survey to ensure that a full and fair picture of the industry is obtained.
To clarify: * E-commerce is simply the exchange of information across electronic networks, and includes the use of e-mail, the Internet and Electronic Data Interchange.

Government needs to support vocational training
The Government needs to be more supportive of firms willing to participate in vocational qualifications and training schemes, a West Midlands' engineering company has warned
* The electrical installation equipment industry as defined here is concerned with the manufacture, distribution and installation of 'low voltage' electrical equipment installed in or around buildings, principally 240 V single phase and 415 V three phase.
The aim of the study is to establish the current industry position with respect to e-commerce, to determine where it needs to be and to identify any barriers en-route.
The study will provide clear recommendations for the industry and for government.
The results of the study will be presented at an industry workshop in February 2002, to be organised in collaboration with the ETG.
Invitations to the workshop and copies of the final report will be extended to all those who can participate.
I hope you are able to contribute to this study and I look forward to hearing from you.
We have developed a questionnaire to facilitate your contribution.
This can be completed either on-line or• by downloading a Microsoft Word 'form' that can be completed off-line and then faxed or emailed back to Quo-Tec.
Access the questionnaire from www.quotec.co.uk/e-commerce Completing the questionnaire should only take about 15-20 minutes of your time, but your response is entirely voluntary.
I would like to assure you that replies received at Quo-Tec's Amersham office will be treated in strict confidence and only aggregated data will be published.
No information you provide will be attributed to you or your company or given to any third party.
