Sentinel from Rockwell Automation Entek is a simple, robust unit that attaches directly to the rotating machinery such as centrifuges, crushers and electric motors.
When Sentinel detects an increase in vibration, beyond a preset level, it can either trigger an alarm, enabling further investigation as to the cause, or automatically trips the machine.
Sentinel is a self-contained unit housed in a rugged steel enclosure, designed to withstand the harsh environments found in industries, such as oil and gas, cement, power generation and petrochemicals.
The Sentinel offers the widest choice of configuration options available for this type of monitoring device.
These options include measurement range and parameters (acceleration or velocity), filters, and time delays.
The alarms can also be adjusted on site with no special tools.
Sentinel can be quickly configured using a simple to use PC application, via the 9-pin RS232 communication port.
A daily log inside each Sentinel records the maximum and average vibration levels, whilst the event log records alarm and danger limit events, diagnostic information and configuration changes.
Sentinel takes its signal input from a single integral solid-state accelerometer, mounted in one of two standard axes, or a standard externally mounted constant current accelerometer.
Sentinel has two relay outputs, a proportional isolated 4-20mA analogue output and a 0-5V AC buffered signal output for use with portable data collectors.
Models are available that accept power from 24V DC or 85 to 240V AC supplies.
Sentinel is a simple, rugged and extremely reliable single channel vibration protection monitor that provides end users and OEMs with protection from mechanical failures as a result of severe vibration.
