The IRC5 is the fifth generation robot controller from ABB and is claimed as the biggest technological step forward since the introduction of the first generation S1 in 1974.
Easy to use interface for any automation project
The new SCADA Portal from ABB is an easy-to-use graphical interface for controlling remote processes from small, standalone applications to five clients and up to 10,000 I/O per server
The configuration editor of Iris gives a very clear overview of all components.
The tag database is in XML format and can be imported and exported in XML and comma delimited formats, useful for automatic application generation.
The tag database can entirely be edited on line.
With the screen editor all the graphical pages are made using standard available objects.
Also ActiveX objects can be imported.
The IPL Iris object oriented programming language can be used for many tasks, like programming event handlers.
IPL allows access to all tag data and tag and screen properties.
Iris allows online changes, during runtime.
So for instance data logging and trending are not interrupted during changes in screens or in the tag database.
But also trending, SQL database, reporting etc can be changed online.
This is particularly useful in client/server mode.
Iris has a powerful trend function.
The trend function offers huge amount of graph styles in 2D and 3D, with zoom, scroll and rotation with 3D perspective.
It can be applied with multiple axes.
The alarm and event handler allows single and group alarms, and supports alarm priorities.
The alarms can be configured using colours and blinking, and can be placed on any screen.
A unique and powerful sort and filtering is available for the operator.
The operator can store selected preferences.
Alarms are stored in an historical database for later diagnosis.
Standard communication drivers are available for the most common control systems.
These include: Modbus, Modbus Plus, Ethernet Modbus/TCP, Siemens Ethernet, MPI, Profibus and Allen Bradley drivers.
Thanks to the flexibility of the package other communication drivers can easily be implemented meeting the requirements of your application.
Iris is available in 12 and 15in industrial panels, running under Windows XP embedded, IP65 and without moving parts.
This allows users to run single applications on both Scada and panels, one-time development and online software maintenance for the entire application.
