Richard Simon has made an important breakthrough in bag placing equipment for jute bags.
Although the main market for such equipment is the Indian subcontinent, jute bags are also used in many other countries, including the UK and Europe, to bag product destined for India.
The throughput of any bagging line is directly dependent on how effectively the bags are picked up and presented to the weigher.
Jute bags have, until now, proved notoriously difficult to handle in a controlled and repeatable fashion, resulting in reduced bagging speeds and line congestion.
The open and uneven weave of these bags mean that they often require manual assistance to ensure successful pick up.
Richard Simon has carried out an extensive design and research programme which has culminated in a new lifting frame concept for their existing bagplacers.
This new frame allows jute bags to be handled at normal speeds without constant care and attention from the operator.
By increasing the low volume air flow and replacing the existing aluminium frame with a more robust stainless steel one, the equipment is now far more tolerant of open weave bags.
Whereas before, the loss of a single suction cup would have prevented correct pick up, now up to four suction cups can be separated from the bag without problems.
Richard Simon claims that its new jute bag handler overcomes the traditional problems associated with such products, resulting in significant improvements in bag throughput.
Extensive trials have shown that a single machine can deliver up to 12 bags per minute and customers already using the equipment are extremely pleased with the performance and reliability.
The new bag handler frame can be retrofitted to existing Richard Simon bag placers and is also very effective for woven polypropylene bags.
This equipment complements Richard Simon's extensive range of filling and weighing equipment and strengthens their position in this market, especially in Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
