Billed as an ideal automation controller, the M340 has multitasking processing capabilities, and supports all five of the IEC61131/3 programming languages.
Available now from RS Components, the Modicon M340 programmable automation controller from Schneider Electric combines power and compact design and is the ideal solution for complex machine control and medium-sized infrastructure applications.
Features of the M340 include up to 4Mbyte of internal RAM, program constants and symbols up to 3584Kbyte and data up to 256Kbyte.
There is a USB interface for programming and HMI connectivity, and Ethernet TCP/IP.
The fact that it requires no battery back-up means there is extremely low maintenance, and robustness is ensured by CE, UL, CSA, ACA and GOST certification.

The M340 has an integrated motion function block library conforming to PLCopen standard, with a single graphical configuration built into Unity Pro.
Dedicated functions enable simple access to speed drive status and diagnostic data, while faulty device replacement is automatic, requiring no software recognition or parameter reloading.
Through a common library of control function blocks in Unity Pro, the Modicon M340 brings machine level PID within reach.
The need for external controllers is eliminated, and the overall control architecture is simplified, as well as the design, commissioning and operation.
The M340 offers real synergy with all of Schneider Electric's automation products, from control to supervision, and from monitoring to machine data acquisition.
Everything is designed to ease integration, speed up development and simplify installation, use and maintenance.
