Apprentices gain early media exposure

Global PET tooling specialist R+D Tool and Engineering has confirmed that its UK operation will be relocating to a larger purpose-built facility in July 2006.
This story was also picked up by the local press.
New apprentices Jamie Shenfield and Robert Dods have joined R and D as part of a scheme called the "14-19 Project" which is facilitated by the training organisation NLT and which aims to get local schoolchildren to pursue careers in Engineering.
Both Shenfield and Dods had spent time on work experience at R and D prior to joining on a full time basis.
John Brown, who leads training activities at R and D in the UK commented: "We have a track record of regularly taking apprentices and so when, we were asked to support this scheme, we very happy to be involved".
R and D has a long history of promoting from within and for providing opportunities for employees to follow different career paths.
Although R and D also recruits people with specialist skills mid-stream in their career, many of the most experienced people within the company started their careers with R and D, often via apprenticeships, and have built long-term careers with the company.
