Measurement system takes the strain
RDP Electronics has developed a simple, cost-effective means of measuring strain.
RDP Electronics has developed a simple, cost-effective means of measuring strain Requiring no expensive, customised equipment, the new solution is based on its multichannel Series 600 modular measurement system

Absolute rotary position sensing with zero wear
Using RDP's capacitive non-contact measurement technique, the RCDT rotary displacement transducer accurately measures the absolute position of its shaft in relation to its body.
This system is quick to set up and outputs directly to a PC.
As an example of the ease of assembly, a measurement system comparing force and strain involves connecting as many strain gauges as required to RDP's 628 strain gauge amplifier modules, setting the gauge factor and strain range, zeroing the output, connecting a PC via a 650 module (with a copy of RDP's freeware) and taking the measurements.
When the load is applied, measurements are fed via the 628 strain gauge amplifier to the 650 module from where an RS232 output links to a PC for data collection and graphical display of force against strain using Microsoft Excel.
This measurement solution not only saves capital equipment cost but also its simple setup procedure saves an engineer's valuable time. Request a free brochure from RDP Electronics ...
