Positioning in harsh environments

A RDP Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 24, 2007

The SSD series of position transducers from RDP Electronics is designed to withstand the pressures experienced at depths of up to 2300m.

For measuring or controlling position beneath the sea or in harsh industrial applications, the SSD series of position transducers from RDP Electronics provide an economical and practical solution.

The linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) principle makes it a robust and reliable position sensor type available.

Suitable for use on underwater control valves or vehicles and for measuring movement on structures, the SSD range is constructed from a special grade of stainless steel and designed to withstand the pressures experienced at depths of up to 2300m.

Calibrated outputs of +/-5V or 0 ~ 10V are available as standard with the option of 4 ~ 20mA two-wire transmission providing accurate data even over long cable runs.
