Displacement sensor works around corners

A RDP Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 15, 2007

The transducer body can be bolted to a reference point and the draw wire attached to the moving part of the system, allowing point-to-point measurement or even use around corners.

The DWT transducer from RDP Electronics offers an easy to use but accurate means of measuring displacement from a fixed point.

It suits diverse applications, including the control of press height or furnace doors.

Based on the draw wire principle, the transducer body can be bolted to a reference point and the draw wire attached to the moving part of the system, allowing point-to-point measurement or even use around corners.

The draw wire is plastic-coated and has a spring-loaded reel to maintain cable tension.

The DWT is available in standard or rugged enclosure versions and can have an LCD display as an option.

Measurement ranges are availalbe from 600 to 3500mm, and ranges up to 7500mm can be accommodated.

Typical analogue outputs include 4-20mA and 0-10V.
