Position sensor features flexible design
Magnetostrictive position sensor is designed for continuous operation even when subject to the harshest industrial environments.
RDP Electronics reckons that the MTS Temposonics Model RF magnetostrictive position sensor offers the perfect solution for accurate, absolute position measurement combined with flexibility Extremely robust it is designed for continuous operation even when subject to the harshest industrial environments

Absolute rotary position sensing with zero wear
Using RDP's capacitive non-contact measurement technique, the RCDT rotary displacement transducer accurately measures the absolute position of its shaft in relation to its body.
A significant feature of the flexible design is the ability to ship the sensor "rolled up" vastly increasing the ease and reducing the cost of carriage and storage of the unit.
The Model RF device allows positioning of up to 15 magnets along the length of the sensor significantly reducing installation and maintenance costs associated with an encoder, microswitch or proximity switch solution.
The sensing element is contained in a Teflon-coated stainless-steel flexible housing that can be bent in an arc to a minimum 250mm radius, so that it does not have to fixed in a straight line to moving machine parts, and is offered with a measuring range from 150mm to 15m.
Output options include analogue, SSI, CANbus, Profibus-DP and EtherCAT.
MTS Temposonics is the original developer of the magnetostrictive technology and a recognised world leader for quality and service for this very rugged sensor. Request a free brochure from RDP Electronics ...
