Sensors monitor hydraulic cylinders

A RDP Electronics product story

RDP Temposonics' RD4 sensors have been designed for installation into hydraulic cylinders and are ideal for clevis head cylinders, or any space restricted application.

Electronics can be a short cable length away from the sensor, vastly reducing the size of the sensor head and enabling it to fit into many more cylinders.

Offering highly accurate absolute position measurement, the RD4 is a rugged industrial sensor employing magnetostrictive technology and is well suited to continuous operation in harsh industrial environments.

The RD4 provides very accurate measurement of the position of the black ring-shaped magnet along the length of the stainless steel tube.

The magnet is usually attached to the piston rod.

Feature-packed, the RD4 includes LED sensor diagnostic display, offers linear accuracy better than 0.02%, repeatability of 0.001% and has a choice of output options including analogue, SSI, CANbus, Profbus-DP and EtherCAT.
