SS transducers monitor structures at sea

A RDP Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 6, 2009

Developed for use in marine environments, the SS transducer series from RDP Electronics is suited for a range of structural monitoring applications.

The SS Series is sea water protected and typically used for the structural monitoring of ship deck boards, but also widely used for strain measurement and positional measurement of many types of structures on the sea bed, including sub-sea structures such as those restraining pipes and for bridges.

The SS series transducers are fully constructed from 316 stainless steel and by employing a through bore ensure there are no cavities for marine growth and other organisms to impede the movement of the transducer.

Thanks to a robust design and very thick case the SS transducers are also well equipped to withstand longer exposure to the rigours of corrosive marine applications.
