RDP introduces Ex-Atex-approved R-Series sensors

A RDP Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 29, 2009

RDP Electronics has announced that its MTS R-Series magnetostrictive position sensors are now available in Ex-Atex-approved versions.

Suitable for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas for gas and Zone 22 for dust, the approval applies to all analogue, SSI and CANbus versions of the R-Series transducers.

For more critical hazardous areas such as Zones 1 and 2, solutions can be devised by the use of larger housings to provide mechanical protection for electronic components.

As a result of proprietary synchronisation technology, the R-Series SSI offers accurate position output while minimising inherent system-related delays.

The double-shielded design provides high-level EMC immunity and is packaged in a compact IP67 housing as standard, with the Ex-Atex-approved explosion-proof versions as an option.

The R-Series Fieldbus network sensors are capable of sensing up to 15 magnet positions and five magnet velocities simultaneously along a single axis - a capability that can be used to eliminate multiple linear or discrete sensors.
