Project involves detailed design and manufacture of fly-by-wire airborne motion control system to replace less reliable, mechanical linkages.

A recent project involved the detailed design and manufacture of a fly-by-wire airborne motion control system to replace existing, less reliable, mechanical linkages Reliance engineers took the basic customer concept and applied their design and measurement expertise to produce a multiple potentiometer drive unit which met the strict specification for accuracy and reliability

Instrumental to the design process was Reliance's kinematic measuring system.

This computer based system let the engineers validate their design to determine individual critical set points for each unit as well as providing full performance data.

The design for this subassembly permitted the incorporation of high accuracy and reliability with circlip free, precision anti-backlash gearing and triple locking of all critical fasteners.

Quality assured to BS EN ISO 9001:2000, Reliance provides design, rapid prototyping, manufacture, test, clean-assembly facilities to ISO-14644-1 class ISO-7 with localised areas to class 10, a build-to-print service including project management, and subcontract manufacture.

Reliance has a history of mechatronic innovation in motion control for military, aerospace, medical, scientific and high vacuum industries.
