Manual probe heads for inspection flexibility
Renishaw's MH20 and MH20i are two new manually operated probe heads with a unique compact design, suitable for both manual and smaller DCC co-ordinate measuring machines
Renishaw, one of the world's leading metrology companies, is pleased to announce the launch of the MH20 and MH20i, two new manually operated probe heads suitable for both manual and smaller DCC co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
Both products offer users increased levels of inspection flexibility and fast stylus changing from a unique compact design.
The probe heads feature manual adjustment, allowing users to orientate the probe to a wide range of positions.
Users can therefore easily access features to be measured, and optimise system performance by ensuring the probe is applied to the surface at the best angle to achieve accurate measurements.
The ultra compact MH20 offers fully flexible adjustment with any combination of rotation and pitch (below the horizontal), and features a purpose-designed locking mechanism.
Offering greater functionality, the MH20i can orientate a probe to 168 repeatable positions in 15-degree increments, allowing a one-time only qualification for a stylus tip position.
This eliminates the need for costly time-consuming re-qualification routines, ensuring fast throughput for part inspection.
Both the MH20 and MH20i feature an integral probe body which minimises the overall size of the probe system, optimising the working volume of the CMM.
Based on Renishaw's patented TP20 stylus module changing system, the integral probe body ensures fast repeatable stylus changing when using either probe head.
Probe styli are carried on detachable modules that also incorporate the sensor mechanism.
The module is magnetically attached to the heads' integral probe body using a highly repeatable kinematic mounting, avoiding the need for probe re-qualification.
The full range of TP20 system sensing modules can be used with the MH20 and MH20i, including 5-way, 6-way and extension units.
This allows users to optimise probing sensitivity and reach, to meet the widest possible range of inspection applications.
Each sensing module, with pre-selected stylus, is easily attached and detached manually, and may be conveniently stored in the optional MSR1 storage rack.
