A new compact probe system with radio signal transmission is now available from Renishaw.

The MP18 system is a further development of the company's extensive range of optical and radio transmission probe systems for machining centres, offering users of larger machines the benefits of automated part set-up and in-cycle gauging.

In Europe, the MP18 probe system is available with sixty-nine user-selectable radio transmission channels.

This large number of discrete radio channels means that up to sixty-nine probes can be used in the same building, at the same time, without signal interference.

The programming of channels is made without the need to change switch settings or disassemble the system hardware.

A unique non-contact programming system ensures user selection takes place quickly and easily, in the workshop environment.

The MP18 system incorporates the same probe module used in Renishaw's proven compact optical transmission probes, such as the widely used MP10.

Compatible with a wide range of machine controllers, the MP18 compact radio probe system offers users of machining centres large time savings in part set-up and the benefits of in-cycle gauging, with work offsets updated automatically.

Used with high-speed, single touch probing routines or double touch for controllers without a high-speed skip option, the MP18 compact probe system is also sealed to withstand harsh machine tool environments, and is highly resistant to false triggering induced by shock and vibration.
