Renishaw is sponsoring an event designed to appeal to engineering companies that want advance intelligence on the key issues and challenges they will face in the next five years.

World leading metrology company Renishaw will be lead sponsor for "Sustainable manufacturing in the 21st century", this year's theme for the Metalworking Production Summit conference being held at the Williams F1 Engineering Conference Centre on Wednesday 23rd November 2005.

This one-day conference and networking event is designed to appeal to directors and managers of engineering companies that want advance intelligence on the key issues and challenges they will face in the next five years.

Topics will deal with issues such as the opportunities and threats posed by new technology, success in the global market place, how to improve and exploit existing processes, linking to the aerospace supply chain and the protection of employees and profits.

The programme has been created by the respected engineering journals Metalworking Production and The Engineer, and will feature top level speakers from SMEs, OEMs, R and D organisations and business advisers, including Cosworth Racing, The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery, Gardner Aerospace and Envirowise.

The event will provide a reality check for engineering SMEs, and as well as delivering high-level information, the conference will also explore practical ways to cut costs, increase profits, and provide advice on coping with health, safety and environmental issues.

Using case studies, and drawing on their professional expertise and experience, several SMEs and OEMs will also offer practical tips on achieving commercial success including companies such as Smiths Aerospace, Messier Dowty, Castle Precision and Zytek.

An important part of the day will also be the opportunity for delegates to network with like-minded engineering professionals, who share similar issues and challenges, opening up the possibility of future knowledge sharing and partnerships.

An added attraction for delegates will be the unique opportunity to tour the world-renowned Williams Formula 1 Motor Museum, which houses the collection of Williams F1 sporting memorabilia dating from 1977 to the present day, during which time the team has won 16 World Championships.

Each of the drivers' winning cars is represented, from the very first car designed and built by the team, the FW06, through to the latest FW025, and a variety of other cars including the Williams F1 six-wheel car and the world rally Metro 6R4.

As well as main sponsor Renishaw, the "Sustainable manufacturing in the 21st century" conference is also being sponsored by CG Tech, Delcam, Hardinge-Bridgeport, Kasto and Hexagon Metrology.
