Positive first quarter for Renishaw
Renishaw's Chairman and Chief Executive, Sir David McMurtry, has reported on a positive first quarter of trading.
Speaking at Renishaw's Annual General Meeting held on Friday 14th October, Renishaw's Chairman and Chief Executive, Sir David McMurtry, reported on a positive first quarter of trading Both turnover and profit for the first three months of Renishaw's current financial year are ahead of those for the comparable period last year, and there has seen growth in all Renishaw's major markets worldwide, in particular, the Far East and in all major product lines

Significant new developments to Renishaw's open, non-contact, encoder system include a 360° degree high resolution rotary encoder.
Sir David also noted that progress continues with the preparation of Renishaw's new property in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, for the move of the manufacturing facility from its New Mills site.
The Stonehouse facility will be fully operational by the end of March 2006.
Shareholders were also updated about a number of new products that have been introduced at recent exhibitions, in particular, at EMO Hannover held in September.

At Oxford-based Exitech Ltd, a recent major development has been a CNC laser drilling system for printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Doll making in Ireland is a traditional craft and has recently found the benefits of scanning technology.
The new Gyro range of infinite positioning measuring heads for co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs), which complement Revo and Renscan5 products introduced in April this year, were very well received.
Also introduced at EMO Hannover were the OMP400 high accuracy strain gauge touch probe and on-machine verification software launched as part of Renishaw's machine tool product line.
Recent investments were also discussed by Sir David, who reported that Renishaw had recently acquired a 50% interest in Pulseteq, a small UK company, specialising in radio frequency coil electronics and other enhancements to magnetic resonance scanners.
He stated that the investment illustrated Renishaw's intention to undertake further investigations and exploit opportunities in the medical field by applying its in-house metrology expertise.
Additionally Renishaw has acquired a 50% interest in Metrology Software Products, another small UK-based company, to strengthen the software development programmes for the CMM and machine tool product lines.
It was also explained how Renishaw's annual accounts for the year ended 30th June 2005 have been restated under the International Financial Reporting Standards and are now available on Renishaw's main website.
The overall net effect of these accounting changes is a small increase in the recently reported profits before tax from GBP 31.3 million to GBP 31.7 million and an increase in earnings per share from 34.3p to 34.9p.
