Feedback encoders on show in Birmingham
Compact optical and magnetic position feedback encoder systems for industrial automation to be shown at MTec in Birmingham in February.
Renishaw's latest compact optical and magnetic position feedback encoder systems for industrial automation will be on show at the MTec exhibition at Birmingham's NEC from 15th to 16th February 2006.
MTec covers developments in the sensor, measurement and instrumentation industry, and has a dedicated section for industrial networks for Fieldbus and Open Systems, which showcases proprietary systems, open systems and the industrial use of Ethernet.
Renishaw will be exhibiting on stand D11.
Visitors will be able to see additions to the Signum range of encoders, including the Relm high accuracy linear scale, Signum software for real-time system diagnostics and miniature magnetic rotary encoders.
There will be the chance to see high-vacuum encoders and hear details of improvements in speed, resolution and reliability to standard RG2 and RG4 optical linear encoders.
The latest Signum encoder range has a cyclic error of typically less than +/-40nm and In-Trac optical reference mark, which remains phased over the entire speed and temperature specification.
The system provides intelligent signal processing to improve reliability, while software enables optimum set-up and real-time system diagnostics via a PC's USB port.
The Relm linear encoder comprises the SR read head, Si interface and 20um Relm scale, which is offered in defined lengths.
Initially available in Invar, which provides a low thermal expansion of 1.4um/m/C, the Relm scale comes with a choice of In-Trac reference mark positions and dual optical limits.
Together with the 20um spars, this gives the Relm accuracy to +/-1um and resolution to 20nm.
The Signum RESM angle encoder is a one-piece stainless steel ring with 20um scale marked directly on the periphery.
It uses the In-Trac optical reference mark, which repeats, regardless of direction, at operational speeds of over 4500rev/min (52mm diameter) and up to 85C.
The PC-based Signum software provides calibration, set-up optimisation and real-time diagnostics.
The result is simplified installation of the encoder system and ongoing system maintenance.
The Signum Si interface is connected to the PC via a USB connector and includes real-time signal monitoring, read-head pitch adjustment, calibration of the encoder reference mark and incremental signals, remote system monitoring, advanced error logging and system configuration analysis.
Miniature magnetic rotary encoders are available in component, modular and packaged shaft-style models, including the RM family of magnetic encoders which provides up to 4096-count positioning resolution, accuracy to 0.3deg and operating speeds to over 30,000rev/min.
The non-contact magnetic design eliminates seals, bearings and moving parts.
Standard models provide shock and vibration resistance, while optional sealed models allow applications in harsh environments and immersion.
