Diemould India exhibition in Chennai, India, from 3rd to 6th March 2006, to feature products that increase productivity for toolmakers.

Renishaw will highlighting products for the die and mould industry when it attends the Diemould India exhibition in Chennai, India, from 3rd to 6th March 2006 It will also highlight its increasing investment in its Indian sales and support network

Organised by Tagma, India's Tool and Gauge Makers Association, this two-yearly show includes a seminar programme entitled "Tooling in the next decade - Vision 2010".

Renishaw's head office for Indian sales and marketing has recently relocated to new premises in Bangalore, and staff numbers have been boosted throughout India to meet sales growth in all Renishaw's product lines.

Regional offices have been established in Pune and Delhi, while resident sales engineers support other key industrial areas, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

Exhibiting in Hall II, stand 97, Renishaw will focus on products that give increased productivity and quality for toolmakers.

These include TRS1, a tool recognition system for high-speed broken tool detection, PC-based software for part inspection on machine tools, and a compact high accuracy touch probe for small machining centres.

Other products of interest to Diemould visitors will include Renishaw's QC10 ballbar system for the fast analysis of machine tool performance and the ML10 laser interferometer measurement system for machine calibration.

The TRS1 broken tool detection system projects a beam of laser light at a tool and monitors the reflected scattered light to determine if the tool has been broken.

This technology distinguishes between the tool and coolant or swarf, while it is also fast and reliable under real machining conditions.

It comprises a single unit containing the laser source and detection electronics, enabling it to be mounted outside of the work area, safe from collision, and saving space on the table.

At Diemould India, Renishaw is also highlighting two PC-based software products for machine tool users.

Productivity+ Active Editor Pro is the next generation of easy-to-use probing and process control software, which targets the entire spectrum of users.

The CAD front-end allows features to be identified with one click, and the drag-and-drop interface uses the measured data to update machine parameters.

The result is an integrated metal cutting and touch probing program, which allows a machine tool to make intelligent decisions on the fly.

Renishaw OMV is a verification package that gives machine tool users CMM-style 3D verification against a CAD model.

The software is targeted at manufacturers of complex and large parts, such as mould tools, and combines freeform and geometric features.

A straightforward point-and-click approach means the user can see the inspection path as it is generated, and make changes if required.

With the firm's non-lobing, high accuracy spindle touch probes, such as the OMP400, the OMV provides accuracy of part verification on machine tools.

The OMP400 is a compact strain gauge probe for small machining centres, providing reduced set-up times, reduced scrap, reduced fixture costs, improved process control and high accuracy on-machine measurement.

Measuring 40mm in diameter and 50mm in length, the OMP400 combines the miniaturisation of the OMP40 touch probe with advances in strain gauge technology pioneered by Renishaw's high accuracy MP700 touch probe.

Since its launch 10 years ago, the QC10 automated ballbar system has established itself as an industry standard for rapid machine tool performance analysis and diagnosis.

Diemould India visitors will see that the QC10 ballbar test typically takes about 15min.

The ballbar attaches magnetically between the machining centre's spindle and table, and tracks machine movement to +/-0.5um.

A CNC circular program is run which allows the ballbar software to calculate machine circularity error, servo gain mismatch, vibration, stick-slip errors, backlash, repeatability and scale mismatch, as well as machine geometry.

The ML10 laser interferometer measurement system is used by some of the largest OEMs and end users in industries such as metal cutting, semiconductor processing, flat panel display production and biotechnology.

The ML10's properties ensure that the system provides a linear position reading resolution of 1.24nm, a range of up to 40m and accuracy better than 1ppm.

This combination of resolution, accuracy and range makes the laser interferometer suitable for characterising the performance of motion systems, both large and small.

Visitors to Diemould India requiring a precision motion analysis system should also evaluate Quickview, a software package to make the ML10 laser a more flexible and powerful analysis tool.

For years, electronic engineers have relied on oscilloscopes to study high-speed variations in voltage or current.

Now, Quickview software provides mechanical engineers with a similar capability, allowing them to study minute variations in linear or angular displacement, velocity or acceleration.

With a simple graphical interface, Quickview allows flexible operation, avoiding the need for predefined measurement targets and sequences - just point and measure, suitable for ad-hoc system investigations.

Diemould India will showcase a range of technologies including dies and moulds, press tools, CNC milling machines and machining centres, EDM, die casting machines, CADCAM software, co-ordinate measuring machines, rapid prototyping, digitising, heat treatment, cutting tools, polishing machines, mould bases, hot runner systems, gauges and coatings.
