Chain offers six times wear life of competition

A Renold Chain product story

A new generation of transmission chain launched by Renold Chain has, the company claims, at least twice the wear-life of the previous design and six-times that of the best competitor's product

A new generation of transmission chain has been launched by Renold Chain that, the company claims, has at least twice the wear-life of the previous design and six-times that of the best competitor's product.

The new chain, branded Renold Synergy, will also withstand 20% higher bearing pressures, has improved fatigue performance and fretting-corrosion resistance.

During tests its bedding-in performance showed a 50% improvement over the previous design, and as a result, running-in adjustments may no longer be necessary after the chain has been fitted.

Maintenance has been further simplified by a unique gold-coloured connecting link that will be easy to locate on dirty applications.

The new chain is the result of over three years of research and development and has benefited from new technology, developed by the company, to improve automotive-chain performance.

Advanced computer modelling and finite element analysis have resulted in an optimised chain design, and specially developed surface treatments have led to the breakthrough Renold Chain's engineers sought.

In a recent launch statement Andrew Freeman, Renold Chain's marketing manager, said: "The test results for Renold Synergy are even better than we had originally calculated.

The final product is greater than the sum of its component parts and hence the name, 'Synergy'.

"Three years ago we set out to develop a new generation of chain that would deliver significant performance enhancements for markets with increasingly demanding applications.

We believe that we've done that and have produced an innovative new range of chain that will serve our customers well into the new millennium.".
