Red Lion's popular PAX range of panel meters has been expanded to include a number of new features including a variable intensity display and a Profibus communication option.

The PAX panel meters were recently rated as the best panel meters on the market in a poll conducted by a US control and automation magazine.

The range offers both analogue and digital models for measurements, such as voltage, current, temperature, count and rate, and is easily programmable to suit user needs.

In the new models, the standard LED displays have been replaced by sunlight readable LED displays that offer 16 levels of intensity.

In comparison with these 16 levels, previous PAX meters had a display intensity at level four.

With this ability to vary the display intensity to suit an application, the PAX meters can now easily be used in facilities ranging from dark room applications to outside installations such as oilrigs.

Of major benefit to the European market is the addition of a Profibus communication option.

The PAX range already supports RS232, RS485, Modbus and DeviceNet.

For ease of setup, the meters also now come with a modified rear cover that allows a prewired communications card to be quickly installed.

A further addition to the range is the option of green LED displays which will complement the previously available red displays.

This will enable users to quickly distinguish between applications where the panel meters have been located close together.

Also, for easier recognition, the displays can now be configured to flash when in an alarm condition.
