Red Lion's Data Station Plus and enhanced Modular Controller Master units can now support up to five serial protocols at once.

Red Lion Controls has released the XCRS serial communications expansion card for the Data Station Plus and Modular Controller product series.

Both series come with three serial communication ports as standard and the XCRS expands this connectivity by adding two extra communication ports - one RS422/RS485 and one RS232 - quickly and easily.

Red Lion's Data Station Plus and enhanced Modular Controller Master units can now support up to five serial protocols at once.

These serial ports are simple to configure using Red Lion's free Crimson 2.0 software and the XCRS installs easily into the expansion port on these units to provide advanced communication capabilities.

The proprietary expansion port of the Data Station Plus and enhanced Modular Controller Master units ensures these products are continually capable of using the most up to date communication technology available.

The addition of the XCRS card provides users with supplementary RS232 and RS485 multiplexed ports capable of communicating with RS232, RS422, RS485 and DH485 devices at up to 115,200 baud.

"The XCRS card enables the Data Station Plus and Modular Controller series to communicate with up to nine different protocols simultaneously, offering virtually unlimited integration methods with existing equipment", said Jesse Benefiel, Red Lion Product Manager.

"In addition, protocol conversion can easily be achieved between any communication ports, delivering an exceptional solution for system integration and data transfer applications".

Both the Data Station Plus and Modular Controller series feature a powerful embedded protocol conversion facility and a multiple-protocol Ethernet port to offer communications and data management.

With the XCRS card, these units feature expanded serial communication capabilities for virtually unlimited integration possibilities.
