Entitled "Control and automation in the communications era", the conference will be held as part of Irchem 2003, Ireland's premier process and industrial exhibition on 16th September 2003, and is sponsored by ISA Ireland.

The conference or seminar is divided into four main segments which examine four aspects of control in the modern era, particularly in the light of the communications revolution of the last ten years.

Each segment is first addressed by a user or avowed expert in the particular field being examined.

Then each manufacturer (ABB, Emerson, Honeywell and Siemens) will give a presentation showing its own particular take on that aspect.

The areas under examination are: control and communication - future-proofing your system; electronic paper/batch tracking; accessibility and interoperability of control systems; and security.

The organisers have been fortunate in securing Andrew Bond, possibly the leading independent commentator on control and automation in Europe to chair the seminar.

He is the Editor of the incisive "Industrial Automation Insider".

Other speakers will come from Britain and the USA as well as from Ireland.
