The first issue of Read-out for 2007 highlights wireless issues in industry.

As well as headlining the launch of Emerson's offering for Europe, the inside front article features National Instruments' Nora Tucker discussing machine monitoring applications using PDAs and wireless technology.

However the main headline feature is the takeover of Irish project management company, Proscon, by Rockwell.

This story broke as this issue of Read-out was been prepared for the printers.

Other items reveal the marketing now of GE Fanuc range by PJ Boner.

The company used to be marketed through another GE company but didn't have the focus on the automation disciplines that Boner has.

Another story covers the co-operative deal of Emerson with Mtelligence, a Californian company, allowing effective integration of its Platweb, AMS and EAM systems with SAP and IBM's Maximo.

This is of particular interest to Read-out readers because two of the principals of Mtelligence are from Ireland.

Also featured is a story on how the English company Hycontrol "struck oil in Ireland".

Hycontrol provided a level measuring and data management system to Maxol, the indigenous supplier of petroleum products in Ireland.

Also included is the usual people section with details of who's going where in the automation industry in Ireland and throughout the world.

New products are also featured as well as items on training and recent books.
