Bentley takes an interest in Rebis

A Rebis product story

Bentley Systems has purchased a minority interest in Rebis and entered into a strategic alignment.

Bentley Systems has purchased a minority interest in Rebis and entered into a strategic alignment.

Autodesk remains a Rebis shareholder, as well, and Rebis will continue to develop and maintain its AutoCAD-based products and userbase.

"The new strategic alignment of Bentley and Rebis is an important development for the plant creation industry", said Charles Foundyller, CEO of Daratech.

"Arguably, it will lead to interoperability of MicroStation and AutoCAD-based design seats, which - counting all of Bentley's PlantSpace, content-management, server products and third-party MicroStation-based products, together with Rebis' AutoPLANT series - may well be the largest number of user seats among all plant-specific design applications.

I look to this new relationship between Bentley and Rebis to coalesce the enormous and, today, frustratingly partitioned installed bases of DGN and DWG engineering applications and content".

"This has the potential to benefit virtually all EPCs and owner/operators, in particular to accelerate practical solutions for accessing and maintaining engineering content at the operating plants, which are often unwilling or unable to deploy specialist applications.

The Bentley and Rebis alignment, aimed at fully exploiting and integrating the widely used MicroStation and AutoCAD mainstream design software platforms, will help ensure that valuable plant engineering content, rather than being isolated, will provide continual returns over the lifecycle of plant facilities", stated Foundyller.

In Daratech's new overall-plant-design-revenue software vendor rankings Bentley and Rebis respectively earned the number 2 and 4 positions (in terms of market presence) for 2001.

Daratech also reported that Bentley and Rebis are forecasted to be among the top three overall plant design software sector firms in 2002 dollar growth.
