Reliance Gear Company claim to be world leaders in the production of precision ground rack, including round bar and tubular rack, which have particular advantages for the design engineer

During the past twenty-five years Reliance Gear Company of Huddersfield have proved themselves to be world leaders in the production of precision ground rack They have added to their expertise in this field by producing ranges of both round bar and tubular rack, which have particular advantages for the design engineer

Both these items are available from the Reliance Catalogue, which is accessible on the Internet.

Tubular rack is especially useful for medical and scientific applications, where the hollow shaft allows for the passage of fluids, fibre optics and gases etc.

When used with a Reliance pinion, the special helicoidal tooth form of the rack enables it to run with very low noise.

The hollow shaft design also provides low inertia, which allows the use of small motors and higher than normal speeds.

It is available in highly corrosion resistant stainless steel which resists pitting and is supplied in lengths of 250mm, with a pitch to suit a pinion of 0.25 mod.

Shorter lengths and interface features can be supplied as special orders.

Round rack is the ideal component for linear actuators in accurate automation applications such as xy tables, printers, lab automation equipment and robotics.

The unique helicoidal tooth form of the ground rack enables teeth to be put directly onto extremely hard materials, such as bearing steels, which are normally unsuitable for rack manufacture.

This gives the design engineer the opportunity for space and cost savings, because the highly reliable round rack can be used as both the drive and feedback component, without the need for linear guides.

It is manufactured from case hardened stainless steel and is available in standard lengths of 500mm and in two diameters of 12mm and 20mm with pitches of 1mm and 2mm respectively.

As with tubular rack, modified standards are available to order.

Associated products for round bar and tubular rack are all available from the Reliance Catalogue, and small rack assemblies can be supplied on special order.
