Tolerance ring specialist Rencol has almost doubled its production capacity with a move to a major new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Bristol.

Tolerance ring specialist Rencol has almost doubled its production capacity with a move to a major new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Bristol.

The company has moved to premises in Patchway, north Bristol, consolidating operations formerly housed at three separate units in Avonmouth.

Whereas the company's previous offices totalled 1900m2, its new home provides some 3500m2.

The additional capacity is required to meet growing demand for Rencol's specialist fasteners from markets worldwide.

Rencol, which is a member of the Wyko group, has doubled in size every three years since 1990 and today employs approaching 100 people in research and development, manufacturing and administrative functions.

Over 90% of production is destined for overseas markets.

Principal users include the automotive industry and computer hardware suppliers.

Says Jon Penn, Managing Director: "There has been a huge increase in appreciation of the benefits of tolerance rings for a complete range of annular component fastening applications.

Whilst traditionally the single largest user has been the automotive industry computer markets are growing rapidly.

We are also seeing high levels of interest from designers and manufacturers of products such as power tools, white goods and specialist miniaturised medical equipment.

The new premises provide us with the added capacity required to meet this demand and incorporate areas set aside for development and prototyping of the bespoke rings which represent the greater percentage of our work".

Products made at the new headquarters will be supplied direct to customers worldwide and also to the company's sales offices and partners in USA, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia.

Rencol has also recently established a joint venture company in Malaysia to service markets in South East Asia.
