Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics OmniSeal materials have now been qualified to Norsok M710.

The OmniSeal spring energised PTFE seal is well known in the oil and gas market for its extreme reliability; providing sealing solutions for applications in the harshest environments in oil and gas exploration and production.

OmniSeal seals are successfully used in safety-critical applications, in ball valves as double piston effect (DPE) seals in valve seats and to reduce fugitive emissions as environmental valve stem seals.

Other applications include valve body/bonnet seals, butterfly valve seats, down-hole tools, cryogenic swivel seals and other critical sub-sea equipment.

Driven by market requirements for high performance polymer materials, highest quality and ultrareliable products for critical equipment needed for projects such as the Ormen Lange Field and Kashagan Field Development, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics qualified its proven Fluoroloy materials to Norsok M710 specifications.

Saint-Gobain engineers worked closely with specialist outside laboratories to qualify the materials.

The aging test in the qualification process, where Fluoroloy materials were subjected to extreme temperatures and high percentages of hydrogen sulphide (H2S), gave new insights into the properties of these high performance PTFE compounds.

All Saint-Gobain high performance Fluoroloy materials passed the qualification successfully.

The metal energisers are NACE approved materials for use in sour gas conditions.
