Recognizing the concern surrounding safety requirements in the electrical engineering sector, REO has introduced a range of encapsulated variable toroidal transformers The variable toroidal transformers will be used whenever there is a need to regulate AC voltage under load conditions and REO believes that its new range is the only one on the market that incorporates units with no exposed windings

High-frequency transformers make life smaller
REO has introduced a range of high frequency transformers that operate between 20 and 50kHz which are compact, light and hence more economical to produce than previous transformers
Why soft starters make sense
Soft starters provide a properly engineered means of powering AC motors in fixed speed applications as John Symonds of power conversion specialists Reo (UK) Limited explains.
The toroidal cores are manufactured from high quality, grain oriented electrical steel, insulated with epoxy resin and then wound with enameled copper wire.
After winding, with the exception of the brush contact surface, the cores are completely embedded in epoxy resin.
This meets safety regulations for over 50 V and provides both mechanical and environmental protection to the standards DIN 42 590 and VBG 4.
Many of the transformers in the range are also provided with an extra safety cover to prevent accidental contacts.
The transformers are compact, with a high power to size ratio, and provide good heat dissipation.
A brush roller is used, which last longer than traditional wipers, and the windings consist of wire with a constant cross-section which allows the rated current to be drawn over the entire output range.
The range incorporates both single and three-phase transformers.
Input voltage for the single-phase units is 230 V and 3 X 400 V for the three-phase versions.
Output voltages are 0-230 or 0-260 V for single-phase and 3 X 0-400 or 3 X 0-450 V for three-phase.
All the transformers in the range have an adjustable spindle, to allow any kind of assembly, and some have the option of a center-fixing nut.
Motorised units are also available. Request a free brochure from REO (UK) ...
