REO UK has issued a new free mini guide that will help engineers solve the power quality problems commonly found around variable speed drive (VSD) applications.

Reo UK has issued a new free mini guide that will help engineers solve the power quality problems commonly found around variable speed drive (VSD) applications.

The guide simplifies the power quality issues relating to the choice, installation and operation of VSDs.

It will help users, installers, specifiers and sales personnel to grasp important points and overcome potential or existing problems, without having to read weighty technical publications, understand formulas or have a working knowledge of electrical engineering.

In a logical progression, following the power supply to the VSD and then back on to the grid, the guide describes the uses of EMC filters, harmonic filters, output filters and braking resistors in improving power quality.

The guide will also help users to stay ahead of the tightening regulations which govern power supplies, including the recent G5/4 recommendations which stipulate revised maximum levels of permissible harmonics.
