REO has just completed delivery of its largest ever variable transformer.

REO has just completed delivery of its largest ever variable transformer.

The monster unit, has an input voltage of 3 x 500V and an output voltage of 0 to +/-500V.

The current is +/-586A and the power rating 880kVA.

The transformer is connected in an auto delta configuration.

The variable transformer consists of 30 tubes, with 10 connected in parallel for each phase.

It is used in conjunction with a buck boost transformer, hence the bipolar output.

The transformer arrangement feeds a 12-pulse rectifier so that the output is adjustable DC.

The unit is being installed in the UK as part of a system for the testing of large drives.

REO has already received another order for a similar sized unit for installation in Germany for a glass production application.
