RDS are pleased to announce the new AOP-8150 Embedded PC from Aaeon Technology for the HMI market.

Available now from RDS, the AOP-8150 is an embedded PC from Aaeon Technology for the HMI market.

As a panel PC, the AOP-8150 has a large screen sise of 15in.

Additionally, with an integrated 650MHz Ultra Low Voltage Low Power Celeron processor, the AOP-8150 is designed as a multimedia computer.

Most panel PCs are designed with high-level CPUs, large displays and rugged metal chassis.

With the AOP-8150, it offers fanless operation, a plastic housing and a slim operator panel with a 15in TFT LCD display.

With the capability of supporting dual independent displays, the AOP-8150 can display two different events on the LCD and CRT simultaneously.

In addition, it has some distinctive features such as digital I/O, four USB 2.0 ports and IP65 certification, which is rare in the current panel PC market.

The AOP-8120 has an onboard Ethernet controller, multiple COM port interfaces and an audio controller.

With inbuilt IDE connectors, the HDD can be removed easily thus being more flexible.

If the HDD is simply fixed in a system, tiny vibrations may cause the HDD to eventually crash.

To meet application requirements, the patented design allows the antivibration disk drive bay to stand up to 1g vibrations.

In addition, the "fit-anywhere" design makes it very flexible and can be wall-mounted, rack-mounted or desktop.

For system integration, this complete, compact and highly integrated multimedia system will let engineers build a panel PC into their applications easily.

Common industrial applications include factory automation systems, precision machinery, and production process control.

It is also suitable for many nonindustrial applications, such as interactive kiosk systems, entertainment management and car park automation.

Overall, the AOP-8120 is a reliable and cost-effective solution for many requirements.

RDS can provide an SDK for application development in Windows CE.NET V4.2, and the board will also support Windows XP Embedded.

Both of these operating systems are designed to fit onto a CompactFlash card.

However, if the user wishes to run from Windows 2000 or full XP, then this will usually require the hard drive option.
