Leading micromachining systems manufacturer selects unique F-theta laser scan lens for a 25W 532nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser.

Resolve Optics was selected by a leading micromachining systems manufacturer to be the supplier of a unique F-theta laser scan lens for a 25W 532nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser.

Looking to achieve ultrafine resolution laser cutting and etching, the micromachining systems manufacturer required a F-theta scan lens that combined high performance, durability and compactness.

Off-the-shelf scan lenses for high-powered lasers typically failed to meet the demanding high resolution (small focused spot size), tight tolerance on spot size variation or lens durability specifications.

Using a novel telecentric design, the Resolve Optics 100mm focal length laser scan lens achieved excellent F-theta performance, with resolution (20um focused spot size) very close to the diffraction limit over a flat image plane.

The variation of spot size from the average spot size over the full scanned field was minimal.

A proprietary coating on the laser scan lens provided both high on-axis and off-axis transmission as well as the desired durability with a damage threshold 1000x higher than the laser power being used.

Applications for F-Theta scan lenses include high-energy density laser marking devices, graphic arts printers, image scanners and various information processing equipment used in the laser scanning industry.
