Smart card recognition for testing organisation

A Radio Frequency Investigation product story

Radio Frequency Investigation has been recognised by Visa International to provide functional testing of the Visa Smart Debit/Credit (VSDC) chip card application.

Radio Frequency Investigation has been recognised by Visa International to provide functional testing of the Visa Smart Debit/Credit (VSDC) chip card application.

This new status extends RFI's scope of services for Smart Card readers announced in March, to include testing of smart cards issued by Visa member banks, making RFI only the third test-house to have this capability.

Visa has recognised laboratories to perform chip card and device testing to facilitate the testing of chip-based products.

Vendors must enter into a separate agreement with a recognised laboratory for testing.

This builds on RFI's existing recognition by EMVCo to carry out type approval testing of card reader devices.

RFI is the first full service test house (supporting levels 1 and 2 of the EMV standards) in the UK, providing valuable local support to the UK's EMV roll-out program.

RFI will be able to provide an end-to-end service harmonising both hardware and software requirements of EMV devices.

RFI uses the full EMVCo test cases and methodologies agreed by all the card schemes and can therefore support the full testing process defined by EMVCo.
