The addition of a 916MHz version to its T6/R6 range of transmitter and receiver modules, has enabled Sussex based RF Solutions to satisfy applications in the United States.

The modules provide reliable wireless links in areas of high interference and radio noise.

The new modules enable designers to simplify their design, saving space and reducing the component count in applications that require high reliability, licence-exempt wireless links.

Ideal for portable, battery-powered designs, the T6 transmitter and R6 receiver can be used in applications such as vehicle alarms, domestic and commercial security systems, process monitoring and computer networking.

By using the modules, data links with speeds of up to 64kbps can be set up over operating distances of around 200m.

The devices are supplied in miniature, fully shielded SIL packages.

The T6 transmitter measures just 31.5mm x 10mm x 3.4mm and the R6 receiver 49mm x 17mm 4.5mm.

A high degree of immunity to interference results from the phased lock loop (PLL) and crystal oscillator design that enables the transmitter to provide an accurately controlled RF output in the frequency domain, this then permits narrow filtering at the receiver.

An on-board voltage regulator enhances performance from improved supply filtering while ensuring a constant RF output level.

The R6 receiver is based on a single conversion superhet design that also utilises a crystal-based phase lock loop (PLL).

This results in accurate generation of the local oscillator, allowing the use of high Q bandpass filters, giving good adjacent channel selectivity and high interference immunity.

Dynamic range for the receiver is rated at better than 120dB, while analogue and digital outputs simplify integration with external circuitry and microprocessors.

A built-in Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) provides a DC output voltage that is proportional to the RF input signal.

Both the T6 and R6 are fully pin compatible with existing modules, allowing drop-in replacement to improve the performance of applications without modifying the basic design.

Each device can operate from either a 3V or 5V supply and will work at temperatures of up to 55C in standard format.

The R6 module can also be supplied as an extended temperature version able to operate between -40§C and +80§C.
