Every Yilmaz ATEX gearbox undergoes a special painting cycle, which avoids the problem of electrostatic discharge.

The Pumps and Ancillaries Division of the Richard Alan Group has extended its Yilmaz range with the introduction of ATEX-compliant helical gearboxes The gearboxes are suitable for applications in zones where explosive atmospheres may occur and also zones characterised by the presence of gas mixtures and/or dust (zones 1 and 21)

Every Yilmaz ATEX gearbox undergoes a special painting cycle, which avoids the problem of electrostatic discharge and is supplied with a specific User Instruction Manual and Conformity Statement according to CEE94/9/CE Directive, Enclosure VIII.

The ATEX compliant gearboxes are foot/ flange-mounted units from Richard Alan's M/N range of helical gearboxes.

Supplied with solid or hollow output shafts, these gearboxes are designed for a wide range of industrial and processing applications.

They offer up to three-stage operation and provide nominal torques up to 8547Nm.

In common with the standard Yilmaz series of helical gearboxes, the ATEX-compliant gearboxes are designed as monoblock units, based upon a one-piece housing, which offers advantages in rigidity, gear strength, operating noise levels and oil integrity.

All bearings within the gearboxes are supported by the housing itself and not by cover plates.

All axes are machined at the same mounting plate, which gives high precision on all axis with very tight tolerances.

The monoblock design also delivers improved bearing and gear life.

Commenting upon the launch of the new ATEX gearboxes, Edward Jennings, Operations Director for the Richard Alan Group, said: "The Richard Alan Group is very active in chemical processing, marine and petro-chemical markets, so we are fully aware of the competitive pressures, even for the supply of equipment into hazardous areas".

"The Yilmaz ATEX range of gearboxes provides a solution to this problem, providing the benefits of OEM price levels and the highest certificated levels of safety provision".

In addition to ATEX specification units, the Pumps and Ancillaries division of the Richard Alan Group supports its general Yilmaz range of gearboxes with options including: extended and hollow shafts; cooling and lubrication systems; synthetic lubricants; shrink disks; brakes; variable speed drives; and IEC frame bespoke motors.
