Rittal has played an instrumental part in supplying the first Internet kiosk to be installed in a UK police station.

The new facility is a pilot office for the rest of the force and has been designed to provide increased accessibility and visibility to the public.

As an aid to this, the force has introduced an Internet kiosk that provides free access to the constabulary's award-winning website.

Links to other sites with local information are also available, including the hospital, traffic information, the council and many more.

Visitors to the police station are also able to report crimes and give information to Crimestoppers confidentially.

Information is also available about crimes in various areas and there is advice on what to do in certain situations.

A spokesman said: "We have tried to make the new area as welcoming as possible and we have installed many new facilities which will increase public reassurance and make police enquiries a much simpler and more accessible process".

Kiosks are essential tools in helping bridge the gap in delivering online content to people that have no Internet access at home or in their workplace.

The constabulary solution is based on the Rittal Arc-Line, which provides a robust sheet steel enclosure construction that affords excellent protection against vandalism.

The interior is spacious and fully preconfigured, so installing standard hardware components is effortless.

The hinged monitor cover and door provide optimum access to the installed components enabling efficient serviceability.

The Arc-Line's robust construction and aesthetically pleasing design also makes it the kiosk of choice for foyers, shopping arcades, railway stations and many more public areas where enclosure security is a concern.
